Instrument Loan to Mr. Zlatomir Fung

Following the result of the review at the 30th Instrument Loan Committee Meeting in July 2024, Nippon Music Foundation is pleased to announce the start of the following instrument loan to cellist Mr. Zlatomir Fung.

Zlatomir Fung
Zlatomir Fung was born into a family of mathematicians and began playing cello at age three and studied at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Richard Aaron and Timothy Eddy. Fung is the youngest cellist ever to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019 as well as the winner of 2016 George Enescu International Cello Competition, 2017 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, and the 2018 Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, among others. He was selected as a 2016 US Presidential Scholar for the Arts and was awarded the 2016 Landgrave von Hesse Prize at the Kronberg Academy Cello Masterclasses. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lille, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, among others. He made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2021 and has appeared at the Wigmore Hall, Verbier Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. He was appointed to the faculty of The Juilliard School in 2024.

Nippon Music Foundation is pleased to announce that application for the loan of violin (Category A and B) in 2025 will be open from Saturday 1 March 2025 to Tuesday 15 April 2025.
