Yasuko Ohtani
Yasuko Ohtani completed her undergraduate and doctoral studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Her career as a soloist began while studying, with recitals in Vienna, Rome, Cologne, and Berlin, as well as invitations to the Toronto Music Festival, the city of Salzburg, and others. In 2017, she performed in the Musikverein Wien.
Ohtani has performed with renowned orchestras such as the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
In 2019, she released her latest CD of Franck & Poulenc Sonatas for Violin and Piano with Itamar Golan. She has also released many CDs such as "Fantasie de la Traviata" and "Richard Strauss/Beethoven Sonata No. 5" from Sony Music. She hosts and performs on the TV music program "Ongaku Kosaten" along with rakugo artist Koasa Shunputei. She published the book "Violinist, Kyo mo Hashiru!" (KADOKAWA) in 2018. She received the Agency for Cultural Affairs' "Art Festival Award" in 2010.
She is Professor at Tokyo College of Music and a distinguished professor at Tokyo University of the Arts Junior Academy. She also serves as Chair of the Nerima Cultural Promotion Association, Cultural Ambassador of Kawasaki City, Kochi Prefecture Tourism Special Envoy, and Chair of the Japan Symphony Foundation and the Japan Federation of Musicians. She was a former visiting professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
She celebrates the 50th anniversary of her debut in 2025.
