Instrument Loan to Ms. Fumika Mohri

Nippon Music Foundation is pleased to announce the start of the following instrument loan to violinist Ms. Fumika Mohri.

Fumika Mohri
Born in Kanagawa, Japan, Fumika Mohri began playing the violin at the age of three, learning from Kaori Tajiri and Sachika Mizuno. She continued her studies with Koichiro Harada at the Toho Gakuen School of Music and Mihaela Martin at the Kronberg Academy and Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In 2012 she won the first prize at the Seoul International Music Competition, becoming the youngest and first ever Japanese first-prize winner in the history of the competition. In 2015 she won the second prize at the Premio Paganini International Violin Competition and sixth prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. In 2019 she won the third prize at the Montreal International Music Competition. As a soloist, she has performed with major orchestras such as the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Kremerata Baltica and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. She has collaborated with eminent artists including Sir András Schiff, Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Ilya Gringolts, Nobuko Imai, Tabea Zimmermann, Frans Helmerson and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. She released "Saint-Georges: Violin Concertos Op.2 & 7" from NAXOS in June 2023.
